Welcome Tutoring Service
To facilitate the integration of first-year students into the university environment, both from an organizational and a social perspective, the University offers a Welcome Tutoring Service for students enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes.
Purpose and Target Audience
The tutoring service provides support during the first months at university, offering a point of reference to help students find their way, organize their study activities, and face new academic experiences.
The tutors:
- introduce the University and its services;
- help strengthen students’ initial preparation;
- support the study of new subjects, for example through group discussions that also encourage social interaction.
How to Participate
Meetings are held every Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the DEMO Room of the Department of Computer Science (only exception: Monday, 6 October, in Room X3 at the Polo Fibonacci).
Available tutors: Lorenzo Tinfena, Fanar Dawood, Tommaso Maitino, Filippo Candeloro.

Peer Tutoring Service
Peer tutors are senior students who provide personalized support to other students of the Department, facilitating interaction with university staff and offices and offering guidance and advisory activities.
The aim is to create a welcoming space where students can listen, understand, and address together the difficulties that may arise during the university journey, promoting full integration into the academic environment.
What Does Peer Tutoring Offer?
Tutors, trained by psychologists from the University Counselling Service and by Department representatives:
- act as mediators between students, lecturers, and administrative offices;
- help with study organization, exam planning, and finding teaching materials;
- coordinate study groups in different disciplinary areas;
- promote correct use of university services;
- support administrative procedures.
How to Access the Service

DSA Tutoring Service (Specific Learning Disorders)
A dedicated tutoring service is available for students with certified Specific Learning Disorders (DSA) enrolled in the Degree Programmes of the Department of Computer Science.
The service includes:
- orientation activities to support integration into the university programme;
- support in planning exams and related timelines;
- assistance in preparing study tools (formula sheets, summaries, diagrams, etc.);
- support in developing effective study methods and autonomy.

Teaching Assistants
Teaching Assistants for the First Year of the Bachelor’s Degree
Teaching assistants are advanced students who support first-year students in studying the subjects of the first year. Each course has a group of assistants available to help with exercises, covered topics, and general computer science questions.
Teaching Assistants for the Master’s Degree
Some courses provide teaching assistants who support students with exercises and course topics. These assistants are advanced students (typically PhD candidates or Master’s students) who assist other students in studying various subjects, both in the early and later years of the programme.
