As provided by the University Academic Regulations, Article 27 and Article 23, comma 9, two extraordinary exam sessions are reserved for the following categories of students:

workers (see Art. 27 of the RDA);

athletes (see Art. 27 of the RDA);

students enrolled beyond the regular duration of the degree programme (“fuori corso”); for example, a student enrolled in a three-year Bachelor’s programme in the academic year 2022/23 is considered fuori corso starting from the payment of the first instalment for the a.y. 2025/26, and can therefore take the extraordinary exam session in November 2025;
-
students enrolled in the final year of the programme (as defined by its standard duration) who have submitted an application for graduation;
-
parents of children under eight years of age;
-
pregnant students;
-
students enrolled to make up for missing curricular requirements or personal preparation necessary for admission to a Master’s degree programme (transition single courses);
-
incarcerated students;
-
caregivers (as defined in Legge 205/2017, Art. 1, commas 254–255).
To take part in the extraordinary exam sessions, students in the above-mentioned categories, as well as those enrolled in transition single courses, must submit a declaration attesting their status must submit a declaration certifying that they belong to one of the above-mentioned categories, by filling the suitable form, in the following periods.

From 1 September to 19 October (according to the 2025/26 academic calendar) for the first extraordinary session (download the form: .doc, .pdf)

From 1 February to 28 February (according to the 2025/26 academic calendar) for the second extraordinary session (download the form: .doc, .pdf)
and sending the declaration by e-mail to: luigi.capuano@unipi.it
We recall that:

“Fuori corso” students are not required to submit any forms.

All students must register for the exam sessions (by visiting the Exam Sessions and Intermediate Assessments page for the listed courses, and by contacting the instructors directly for any other courses), explicitly indicating in the registration notes their intention to take part in the extraordinary session (appello straordinario):
- registration must be completed within the two working weeks preceding the start of the exam sessions.
